On Being a Boy Only Mom

It has been quite interesting in talking with people after finding out we have having baby boy #3.  My friend Sunny wrote a post a week or two ago about her similar experience in finding they are having boy #4.  Some people are genuinely SAD for us when I tell them that we are having another boy.  It's an odd thing to react to and their response usually goes something like this:

"Oh Gosh, I am so sorry.  You must be so disappointed, I am sure you really wanted a girl"
Gee, what do you say that?  I usually just say something to the extent that of course it would have been to have a shopping partner and someone to watch musicals with...BUT we wanted a third child, not just a girl, so we are happy!  I had a very sweet lady at church really chat to me how she won't try for a 3rd because she's too worried about having another boy.

How much honesty do you really share with people?  Was I upset?  Sure, for a few minutes.  But then I was over it.  I told my husband from the very beginning I knew this baby was a boy.  My heart sank a little knowing I would never be shopping for a prom dress or planning a wedding, but how could I not be happy to have another one of these little critters in my clan?  (we do make really cute boys after all) I know that God has plans for these boys that are beyond my wildest dreams and I am beyond blessed to be entrusted with the job of being their mother.

Boys are wild creatures, I will definitely attest to that.  But along with that wildness comes a fierce loving too.  My boys may be wild, LOUD, rough and tumble, and make lots of potty talk...(I was happy to see while teaching the 4yr olds in Sunday School this past week....they are ALL LIKE THAT), but I wouldn't have it any other way.

My husband's golf foursome is now complete...and so is my my heart! Boy Moms Rock! :)

It's a .....

BOY!

Yep, looks like I will be remaining the Queen of the house.  Another sweet little boy will be added to the crew...I can only pray that he will be as sweet and handsome as the other two and life will be good.  We are very blessed! :)  Zachary wants to name him Max, which although is a great name....is our cat's name.  I tried explaining that it would hurt Max's feelings if we took his name.  Silly boy!

And hey.....looks like now the door hasn't entirely shut on having one more try!  ha!
Looks like I will need to write up one of these for whatever lucky girl gets to marry one of my boys! :)

Birthday Recap

We got to celebrate Zach's birthday on his actual birthday, which was fun!  We opted to outsource this year and had his party at a little gymnastics place right by our house.  It.Was.AWESOME!  Not just the party itself but the fact that we didn't have to do anything to prepare!  The party covered the invites, paper goods, snacks, juice box, cake, party favors...and of course the party!  :)  We had a wide range in ages but the instructors did a good job dealing with that.  She led the big kids and let the little kids do their own thing with the help of their parents.  Oh yeah, and no set up or clean up either!  Zach had a blast and  enjoyed the trampoline and zip line the best.

Zach enjoyed all his new toys from his friends as well.  One of his favs was something I picked up at TRU or $9.99....a little mini fooze ball table! Its cheaply made but its already given hours of entertainment! :)

We enjoyed the birthday fun today with a 4 year well check at the doctor.  I was warned it was a bad one...thankfully my dad was able to come watch Mark so Z and I went alone.  He gets SO shy around strangers in these type of situations which can be a little frustrating...so the hearing and vision testing was a bust.  He was good with the doc for the most part.  He is now 3'7" tall (91%) and 37lbs (61%).  Growing boy!!  And then the shots.  Poor kids.  5 shots!  YIKES!  We survived though and a little trip to the Golden Arches helped soothe the pain.

Can't believe we are on the way to 5 now!

Oh, and just one last cute set of pics from Super Bowl Sunday...love these boys!

conversations with boys

Oh my, it has started already....I really thought it would take longer....but lately, anything toot, burp, spitting or some other lovely bodily function has been the butt of all jokes (ha, pun intended!) :)

Today's conversation went something like this:
Zach- excuse me, i tooted.  (laughs hysterically)
Mark- NO, MARKEY tooted (which he did not, he was sitting on my lap and is now getting upset cause he wanted to toot???)
Zach- no markey, you didn't toot, I tooted!
Mark- NO, MARKEY TOOTED!!
Zach- (still laughing)
Mark- (clenching stomach until a toot DOES come out and big grin emerges) Markey tooted, yay!

Ahhhhh....life with boys! :)
