It was good

But the book is definitely better! Too many details get left out that develop the characters more but just can't be fit in 2hrs and 20 minutes! It was still a really good movie though and I enjoyed it!

The midnight showing was quite an experience too. My friend and I met at 10pm for coffee and dessert. We got to theatre around 11 and already totally full. Only seats left were in bottom section in first and second rows. We were pondering going to a later show, but thankfully, someone pointed out 2 empty seats in about the 7th row and that was doable! There were a few scenes that the teeny boppers spoiled the mood with their oohs and ahhhs, but overall they weren't too bad. I still can't get over that they were all there though. My parents never would have let me go to a midnight show, especially on a school night. Some kids were there on their own, some groups with a mom or two, and evn some that were getting picked up t 2:30am! Craziness!

We had fun though and I would still recommend and want to see again...with a quieter audience! :)

Happy hunger games!

And may the odds be ever in your favor!

My friend Kari and I are a little crazy...and headed to the midnight opening. I've never been to one before, it's sold out, and I just hope TWO things:

1- we get good seats

And

2- we can stay awake!! :)

I'll let you know how it goes on all fronts!

Room sharing

Ever since we found out we were expecting again, we have been pondering zach and mark sharing a room. We have 4 bedrooms, so technically they could each have their own room, but we like having a guest room. Problem with it...will they bother ech other? Mark is a pretty good sleeper, but zach lately has had issues with monsters in his room and scared of the dark. And the thought of two up in the middle of the night does NOT sound appealing!

Anyone have room sharing advice or tips? Right now Mark is still in his crib too so not quite ready to move them anyway, but ready to make a plan!

It's a .....

BOY!

Yep, looks like I will be remaining the Queen of the house.  Another sweet little boy will be added to the crew...I can only pray that he will be as sweet and handsome as the other two and life will be good.  We are very blessed! :)  Zachary wants to name him Max, which although is a great name....is our cat's name.  I tried explaining that it would hurt Max's feelings if we took his name.  Silly boy!

And hey.....looks like now the door hasn't entirely shut on having one more try!  ha!
Looks like I will need to write up one of these for whatever lucky girl gets to marry one of my boys! :)

Thursdays

I have 2 very exciting Thursdays coming up and I just can't wait!

Next week, March 22nd, my friend Kari and I have our tickets purchased for the midnight showing of The Hunger Games!!  I know, I know, we may be crazy.  I have never been to a midnight showing.  I am sure it could be filled with crazy teenagers.  And I am not sure how I will stay awake because these days I am usually asleep by 9:30pm on the couch.  BUT, we are going to meet for a late dinner or dessert and coffee and we are going to see the movie before everyone else.  Nanny nanny boo boo!  (And pray our kids sleep in the next day).  It's going to be good!!

And of course...2 days and counting to the big ultrasound.  I am 99.9% sure its a boy.  I can't tell you how many people give me a sad face when I say that.  Of course I would love to have a girl (for the cute clothes of course) to have that mother/daughter experience.  But my boys fill my heart with an overwhelming amount of JOY and I know another one would too.  They love their mommas, and I love them too.  And would be more than happy to add another player to my little sports team!  Soo....we shall see! :)  Either way, God is good and I can't wait to see this little critter again and give him/her a NAME!

You get what you get...

And don't throw a FIT! :)

That's something they must say at Zach's school...but wherever it came from, we love it. New family mantra perhaps? I kid, I kid (kinda. I think I'm going to make a sign of that for our house).  Cause hey, it's kinda working!

Despite having a very rainy and wet weekend (which can be BAD for a family with 2 very active little boys), it was a really good weekend!  We got several things accomplished and some errands done, plus we just had fun.  And Sunday, well, it was a Christmas miracle that on the day of daylight savings time AND a torrential down pour, we made it to church on time and with all happy faces.  Life is good!  Plus I got to shower my friend Amy Sunday afternoon with my PEO Sisters which is always fun too.

Along with all that, I seemed to hit the jackpot over the weekend with stumbling upon some new blogs or finding some really great and encouraging posts on some of my already beloved ones.

So without further ado, here are a few of my faaaavorite posts....(now that I have you all singing Sound of Music in your head):

**First off, I discovered the mob society...a blog "For moms of boys, By moms of boys".  Good stuff people, there are several posts just from March that I could share.  And its not just for boy only moms either, although some are centered on that.  It just for if you have a SON, period.  Conversely, I read this article and this article on modsquad blog, that i loved too.  Both sites, although some pointed at gender specifics, just have good encouraging MOM posts!  Read on and be blessed and encouraged!

1)  And all the ALL boy mommas say, Amen!  This could have been written from my own heart and mind.  Glimpses of the Sincere Hearts was like a little window into my daily life and it was so good to read that I am not alone!

2)  Who is Cheering You on?  I am so thankful to have true friends that I know are cheering me on along the race of motherhood.  It was also a good reminder to me to make sure I encourage others as well.

3) Mommy, Come Play...Guilty, I have heard those words before.  It is so very easy to get caught up in the to To-Dos of life, that we forget to make time or energy for one thing we crave most of all...I know after reading this, I was more deliberate in my time this weekend and putting PLAY before work.

4) Lesson Learned at the Racetrack.  Another great reminder "that they grow up too fast!"

5) Guard Your Heart, Bro.  For the mommas of older sons, but it was the first MOB article I read and it really got me thinking about what we need to do to raise our sons into the Godly men we pray they will become!

6) Apologies to the Parents I Judged Four Years Ago, I'm Sorry.  Oh so funny, because it's true!

I am sure there were some other really good ones, but that will get you started!

I will save it for another post, but I have some more good books to share too.  One is a devotional I started reading in the mornings.  Short, but oh so powerful.  I find myself coming back to them throughout the day to read again.  I have been searching for something like this, and thanks to the *wonder* of facebook, I found it via some random person's recommendation.  I am loving it!

It feels like its only 11:30, but the clock now says 12:30am so I must be headed to bed.  Gotta be ready to greet the day before my little monkeys are!   Happy Monday all!

(P.S.- 4 more days till baby reveal!!!)

Books

Ive been on a roll ever since I finished The Hunger Games trilogy...almost like I had forgotten how much I loved to read. It is good for the mind and soul. So here's what I have been reading the last month or so:

Emily Giffin's heart of the matter: good romantic-ish novel. Some difficult subject matter, but an easier read after the intensity of The Hunger Games!  (thanks theresa for the correction, you are right, it was NOT a light read) :)

Garth Stein's The Art of Racing in the Rain. I've had this book on my Nook for like 2 years since I first got my nook! I finally read it and it was worth the wait. Sorta marley and me-esque...I laughed and cried. And was happy/sad when it ended. A very good read.

Lisa See's Dreams of Joy. so good! But ALL of Lisa's books are good. If you've never read any, start with her first, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. She uses some of the same characters in new stories. I have loved them all and this did not disappoint either. Interesting look into the Chinese culture and just a great novel!

Cathy Marie Buchanan's The Day the Falls Stood Still. I've had this on my list since I read about it in Barnes and noble recommends awhile back. It's a love story set in Niagra Falls in the early 1900s. I enjoyed some of the historical aspects of it and along with the love angle, the subject matter was just interesting!

Not sure what I'll read next. Our book club is reading The Little Princes so I may start that...or I have several Christian parenting books I've been wanting to read as well. So we shall see! I'll keep you posted! Have you read anything good lately??

yawn

Monsters were in the big boy's room last night which resulted in an extra body in our bed last night...makes for a tired momma today!  thank goodness it is Friday!

I am looking forward to date night tonight, a baby shower for a friend tomorrow, and a Sunday afternoon at the parents with all my family!  It's going to be a great weekend!  Hope you have a good one too!

*&@%^&%

A little voice yelled out *dammit* in the bathtub last night after he couldn't find the matchbox car he dropped in the bubbles......

(Don't judge..not just on the potty mouth but also that we have a million and one toys in the bathtub at night! My kids have always loved the bath and its one of the few times during the day that they will play unassisted by me so it's kinda a free for all in there...  it's momma's reading time!)
My mouth about dropped in shock and I tried not to laugh all at the same time and yet somewhat impressed it was actually used in the correct context.  It is definitely not the worst word he could say (in fact its the one bad word I ever recall my grammy say) but one surely doesn't want their 2 year old running around saying that every time they drop something!  ha!  I kept as straight a face as I could and said, "I think you're saying it wrong...its bammit."  Which then ensued into a 5 minute tirade of BAM BAM and bammit ;-)

I think perhaps Dad needs to watch his language while watching sporting events while the kids are awake! ;-)

Oh kids, it's always something!
